Ongoing Program Location:
Durumi Internally Displaced Person (IDP) Refugee Camp.
The Durumi Internally Displaced Person (IDP) Refugee Camp is located in Abuja, North-central Nigeria. Embark on a journey of transformation with Humanity & Health Foundation’s Ongoing Durumi IDP Refugee Camp Project.
Nestled in Abuja, North-central Nigeria, this vital initiative began in September 2014 to support displaced individuals affected by insurgency in the northeast. Despite previous efforts, the Durumi IDP Camp residents still face challenges such as limited access to education, clean water, and sustainable healthcare, leading to high mortality rates, especially among orphans and children.
In August 2022, during our initial visit, we discovered that the Durumi IDP Camp housed over three thousand five hundred residents, including a thousand vulnerable orphans in urgent need. With the camp coordinators’ approval, the Humanity & Health Foundation launched a comprehensive Wellness Community Outreach Program to address these critical issues.
Our intervention includes health check drives featuring vital signs, blood pressure, and diabetes screenings, ensuring the well-being of every resident. Additionally, we conducted a thorough community needs assessment through surveys and interviews with orphans, children, families, and camp coordinators. This ongoing project aims to create a lasting impact, and your support can make a significant difference in the lives of those facing adversity.
Join us in this worthy cause and be a catalyst for positive change in the Durumi IDP Refugee Camp community.
