Description: Join us for an engaging session on how to create your own sustainable garden. From composting to water-saving techniques, we’ll cover everything you need to help your garden thrive this spring.

 

Agenda:

  1. Welcome and Introduction (5 minutes)
    • Brief introduction to the workshop and its goals.
    • Introduction of the facilitator(s) and the Humanity and Health Foundation’s commitment to sustainability.
  2. Understanding Eco-Friendly Gardening (10 minutes)
    • What is eco-friendly gardening?
    • Why it matters: The environmental benefits of sustainable gardening practices.
    • Key principles: Conservation of resources, reducing waste, and enhancing biodiversity.
  3. Composting Basics (15 minutes)
    • How to start composting at home: Materials you can compost and those you should avoid.
    • The benefits of composting: Enhancing soil quality and reducing waste.
    • Hands-on demo or infographic of the composting process.
  4. Water-Saving Techniques (10 minutes)
    • Importance of water conservation in gardening.
    • Techniques: Drip irrigation, rainwater harvesting, and mulching.
    • How to use water efficiently while ensuring your plants thrive.
  5. Growing Your Own Food (15 minutes)
    • Benefits of home gardening: Reducing food miles and ensuring fresh produce.
    • What to grow in your garden (based on climate, space, and season).
    • Tips for urban gardening, container gardens, and small space solutions.
  6. Interactive Q&A and Sharing (10 minutes)
    • Open the floor for questions from participants.
    • Encourage participants to share their gardening tips and experiences.
